The Vacuum Forming Process
Vacuum Forming is a manufacturing process where plastic sheet is heated until pliable and then drawn over a mold using vacuum. Once the sheet has cooled, we are left with a rigid form. The form is then trimmed, cleaned and finished to create a manufactured part.
Vacuum Forming is ideal for low-cost tooling and part production, especially in low volumes or when quick turnaround is needed. Its efficiency makes it perfect for rapid prototyping and small production runs.
Vacuum Forming Plastics
- ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)
- HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene)
- HDPE (High Density Polyethylene)
- Kydex T (ABS/PVC)
- PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate)
- PC (Polycarbonate)
- PP (Polypropylene)
The Leaders of Prototyping and Low Volume
Most shops won’t touch low volume work or offer lead times under a month.. we’re built different!
We stock a wide range of plastics and gauges and can often make tooling in days.
We use a robust engineering review process, inspection and quality control to ensure parts are right first time.
